Earthquakes are seismic activity that causes the ground to shake, resulting in damage to structures and loss of life. Following are some of the recent calamities.

  • Myanmar (March 28, 2025)

  • Kamchatka, Russia (July 30, 2025)
    : A colossal 8.8 magnitude megathrust quake rattled the peninsula. Surprisingly minimal casualties—about 1 indirect death and 25 injuries—but it’s tied among the largest ever recorded. Wikipedia
  • Guatemala (July 8, 2025)
    : A 5.7 magnitude swarm rattled areas near Guatemala City; at least 7 lives lost, 300 injured. Wikipedia
  • Japan, Noto Peninsula (Jan 1, 2024)
    : A 7.6 magnitude quake triggered around 930 landslides and resulted in 653 deaths—still casting echoes into 2025. Wikipedia
  • Tibet (Jan 7, 2025)
    : A 7.1 magnitude quake in Tingri County, causing between 126–400 deaths and over 338 injuries.
