AI driving up GHG Emissions

AI driving up GHG Emissions

In January 2024, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecast that global data center electricity demand will more than double from 2022 to 2026, with AI playing a major role in that increase.

Google is pumping out more Greenhouse Gas (GHG) than ever before due to additional support required for Artificial Intelligence in their data centres. Total GHG emissions in 2023 were 13% higher than they were in the prior year, primarily driven by increased data center energy consumption and its supply chain.

The big question is as users should we use more of AI?
